Dancing has so much to offer. Some of the benefits are: exercise, stress relief, increased social poise and confidence, and of course fun! Dancing can also be a creative outlet, and improve your teamwork and communication skills, as well as your mental, physical and emotional health. Dancing is a perfect combination of mental stimulation, physical activity and social interaction.
Yes! With proper instruction and sufficient practice, everyone can learn to dance. We will teach you the foundational steps first, and you will then be able to build up to more advanced combinations.
At our studio, you will quickly establish confidence with the basic steps. However, the more you practice, the better you will become. As your dance education continues, you will engage in more advanced steps and styling.
We offer lessons for singles and couples alike. Whatever your situation, our instructors will guide you. In private lessons, instructors will dance with students as needed.
In most situations, you will benefit from knowing a variety of steps in different dances. Swing and Night Club Two Step are among the most versatile, as they can be danced to a wide range of music. The most popular dance right now is Salsa, especially for those who enjoy Latin music. If you have no preference, then the easiest to start with is Merengue.
Dress comfortably, and use the shoes that you would wear to go dancing in. Smooth or leather-soled shoes are best, however we recommend that our students invest in dance shoes, as they will help you to move more easily, and can prevent dance-related injuries. We offer an assortment of them in the studio. We don't recommend sneakers, any other rubber-soled shoes, flip flops or platforms.
At least once a week, but taking two or three classes a week could accelerate your learning, especially when you're first starting. If it's difficult for you to commit to weekly lessons, just remember that taking regular classes over a continuous period of time will lead you to become a skilled, confident dancer. Private lessons are by appointment, and therefore can fit into anyone's schedule.
To reschedule a private lesson, you must call at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson or forfeit it. All packages expire one year from the first class. All classes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
The best way to make sure you have the right music for your chosen dance is to purchase one of our practice music CDs, which are available in the studio.
The dances we teach can be used in any social dance situation. Although many students initially learn to dance for a specific occasion (such as a wedding, cruise or party), they often find that dancing becomes a lifelong hobby and passion.
