You Can Dance Co. has now been teaching ballroom dance in the Central Valley for over 20 years.

Xavier began teaching socially in his late teens, while still living in Mexico. When he moved to the United States, he began working with Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Southern California. It was through their training that he mastered his first levels of professional certification in Ballroom Dancing. A few years later, he relocated to Northern California and began teaching private and group ballroom dance classes with Steps & Variations, which, at the time, was the most popular studio in the area. After a few years he had established a strong student base.

Heidi dabbled in a variety of dance forms throughout her teens: Modern, Jazz, Hula, Tap, Flamenco, Sevillanas and Belly Dance, but Ballet was her first passion. In her twenties, she began teaching basic Ballet and Aerobic Dance classes at MJC. Seeking more variety, she began taking Ballroom Dance classes at Steps & Variations, and soon decided to train in their Ballroom Dance instructor certification program. She had just completed her first certifications when the studio closed.

Dedicated dance students found churches, halls, and even homes, in which Xavier could continue teaching them. Having become good friends with Heidi, he asked her if she would be interested in assisting him. She said “yes,” and the first steps were set towards establishing You Can Dance Co. They soon realized that there was a growing demand for their instruction, and in 1993 they opened their own studio. They continued to take workshops, master classes and seminars, and as they improved upon their knowledge of dance, their studio also grew. By 2005 they were so busy they decided to hire additional instructors, and began their own teacher training program. Since the expansion of their staff, You Can Dance Co. has been able to offer an even greater variety of classes and teaching styles.

We have always felt lucky to have such wonderful students, and are especially grateful for the hundreds of referrals
that we have received over the years. Teaching has given us the opportunity to meet many great people,
and it is because of our students that we continue to enjoy ballroom dancing in the Central Valley.
Thank you for allowing us to share our passion for dance with you all.  Thank you for being a part of our dance family.

We look forward to dancing with you for many years to come!
